지식은 두 극단에서 결국 다시 만난다. 한 끝에는 모든 사람이 태어나면서부터 가지는 순수한 자연적 무지상태가 있고, 또 다른 끝에는 인간의 모든 지식을 망라한 천재들이 그들이 결국 아무것도 모른다는 것을 발견하고 출발점으로 돌아오게 되는 그런 무지가 있다. 그러나 후자는 무지 그 자체를 아는 "지혜로운" 무지이다. (번역: 최광민)
