동성간 결혼을 지지하는 스타벅스의 창업주이자 CEO인 하워드 슐츠는 2013년 3월 20일에 열린 스타벅스 연례주주총회에서 CEO와 스타벅스의 공공연한 동성간 결혼지지 발언이 매출에 미칠 영향을 우려하는 한 주주의 조심스런 질문에 대해 아래와 같이 일갈한다.

TOM STROBHAR (Shareholder):
In the first full quarter after this boycott was announced, our sales and our earnings — shall we say politely — were a bit disappointing.

 HOWARD SCHULTZ (CEO):
If you feel, respectfully, that you can get a higher return than the 38 percent you got last year, it’s a free country. You can sell your shares of Starbucks and buy shares in another company. Thank you very much.

'팔' 주식은 없으니,
커피나 안 '사'마셔 주련다.

그동안 주중에 한 잔씩은 마셨으니 5 x 50 x $1.5 = $375.
따라서 스타벅스는 나로 인해 향후 연간 약 $400 정도의 매출타격을 받으리라.
